Dr. Julie Edmunds is a Program Director at the SERVE Center at UNCG. She merges her different professional experiences—as a researcher and evaluator, as an elementary teacher, and as a federal education policymaker—to conduct studies that are relevant and rigorous. Julie believes in the power of education to transform students’ lives and in the power of data (broadly defined) to improve educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with program developers, states and districts, Julie designs and implements studies that answer important questions, provide useful feedback, and use a range of methodologies. She is best known for leading a 17-year longitudinal experimental study looking at the impact of early college high schools.
A former Peace Corps volunteer in the Congo, Julie loves to travel with her family to interesting places and eat interesting foods (ask her about palm grubs).
