Paul Perrotta is a Program Administrator for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI), Federal Program Monitoring and Support Division. He represents the SERVE Center and the DPI, providing technical assistance and monitoring to North Carolina public and charter schools with Title 1 and other federally funded programs. For 30 years, Paul's work has focused on inclusion and evidence-based instructional practices for students with disabilities and diverse learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
During the past 17 years in North Carolina public schools, he has worked as a director and executive director of exceptional children, Title 1, elementary education, and alternative education. He also served as a school support officer, providing technical assistance to school improvement teams and supervising principals. His work has prioritized learning and leading with impact teams, implementing research-based frameworks for comprehensive school improvement.
Paul began his professional career as a special education teacher and mental health counselor in public schools and behavioral health residential treatment programs. He served as an assistant principal and a principal at the middle and high school levels, including a district-wide special education school and an alternative education high school. In addition to the University of North Carolina Greensboro, he spent time with two other University of North Carolina systems as a Director and course instructor for students working on their K-12 teacher's license.
Paul is the husband to his wonderful wife and the family CEO, Kate, and the proud dad of two beautiful daughters, Julia and Emma. He and his family love their goldendoodle, Lucky, cooking and experiencing ethnic cuisine, visiting the Biltmore Estate, games, music, and spending time with family and friends.
