Megan Orleans is currently the Program Administrator for 21st CCLC Programs in the Northwest and Western Regions of North Carolina. Prior to assuming this role at the end of November 2020, Megan served as the Director of Out of School Time Programs at Youth and Opportunity United, a non-profit in the near-north Chicago suburbs. In this role, Megan oversaw ten elementary and middle school 21st Century Community Learning Centers across several school districts.
Megan has over 10 years of experience in the field of education. She began her career as a Program Coordinator at a non-profit in Los Angeles working to connect student learning to outdoor garden spaces located on LAUSD school campuses. Through this experience, Megan discovered her passion for cultivating student-centered learning environments that exist beyond the traditional classroom, and went on to work at a variety of children’s museums, botanic gardens, and nature centers across the country. Over the course of her career, Megan has worked to develop expertise in project-based learning that centers community-identified problems and dialogue-based facilitation methods. Most recently, Megan has begun to explore anti-bias education practices and is focused on further developing her approach to anti-racist social emotional learning in both formal and informal learning environments.
